Our school improved from having some of the lowest state test scores in the region to one of the highest-performing Title I schools in New York State.

Through our collaborative efforts, our staff increased our high school graduation rate by over 10% during my tenure as a high school administrator.
Literacy
Advancement
Focusing on implementing literacy curriculum with fidelity and intensive professional learning led to drastic improvements in our literacy outcomes. This entailed engaging families, learning as a staff, tracking student progress with intensive interventions, and fostering a culture where success was not optional!

Celebrations
Established school-wide literacy events that empowered students to see themselves as authors, fostering student agency and reflection and a culture centered on improving literacy outcomes.
Expanded Enrichment and Intervention Programs
Increased student participation in arts, athletics, and enrichment activities, creating a holistic approach to student development. Implemented RTI and MTSS practices ensuring supports for all learners.
Creative and Innovative Solution
Implemented a Freshman Learning Academy and Zero Hour PE program, providing academic supports, movement, nutrition, and intervention supports for our learners. My high school is a nationally certified STEM Academy.

School-Wide Events:
Organized impactful events, such as school anniversary celebrations, creating a school alma mater performed by our studens, and academic celebrations strengthen school pride and community connections. School-wide homerooms and assemblies promote our character education and improve school culture. Creating family events engage our students and build our school-home partnerships.
Family & Community Engagement
Developed programs that foster strong school-community ties, ensuring families are active participants in student success. These events range from outdoor learning, family hikes and events at our community centers to providing educational programming for families on our school curriculum, health and wellness, safety and other pertinent topics.
